Longtime manager Dusty Baker decided to retire after the 2023 season with the Houston Astros.

He had finally gotten that elusive first World Series title in 2022 while managing the ‘Stros.

He is now officially retired from the dugout.

However, he is not fully prepared to leave baseball just yet.

According to recent reports, he is accepting a position with the San Francisco Giants.

No, he won’t return as manager, but he will be helping the front office.

Dusty Baker is joining the Giants front office as a special assistant, per @BNightengale,” MLB on FOX tweeted.

It will be a nice, more relaxed position than being in the dugout everyday, having to answer questions before and after games.

He will, however, have a say in front office and baseball operations as an assistant.

It’s unclear what tasks he will be performing exactly, but it can’t hurt to have such an accomplished baseball brain working for you.

Baker played in MLB for 19 years and was an All-Star, a Silver Slugger winner, and a World Series champ.

He was a coach for four years and a manager for 30.

He was a three-time Manager of the Year and a World Series champion in 2022, accumulating 2,183 wins in his regular season career.

He has loads of baseball knowledge to help players and executives alike.

The Giants are currently in a race to make the postseason in an increasingly tough NL West, and having some experience on their side will only be beneficial for them in the long run.
